Physical Therapist Assistant
JOB SUMMARY
The Physical Therapist Assistant assists the Physical Therapist in patient related activities and direct patient care.ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to the Physical Therapist and Therapy Manager.
- Supervises the patient care activities of the Rehab Tech.
- Coordinates patient care with members of other departments and other staff within the Rehab Services Department
DUTIES
- Performs treatments as directed by the Physical Therapist.
- Supervises the direct patient care activities of the Rehab Tech.
- Documents treatments given and enters subjective information in the medical record.
- Communicates with supervisor, and other team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
- Ensures that all treatment minutes are completed as assigned and reports to the Therapy Manager any minutes missed on the day it occurs.
- Participates in resident care conferences and meetings as appropriate.
- Participates in inservice training programs for other staff in the facility.
- Records treatment units/minutes per facility policy.
- Instructs residents’ families and/or nursing staff in maintenance, routine or restorative programs.
- Reports any problems with department equipment to ensure it is maintained in proper working order.
- Assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the treatment area.
- Complies with state PTA practice act.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a graduate of an approved PTA program.
- Must hold a current unrestricted license to practice as a PTA in the state.
- Long Term care facility experience desired.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
